Arcinova, a multi-service Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) based in Northumberland, England, is delighted to announce that its Senior Director of Business Development Europe, Dr Nathalie Huther, has been named a 2020 Northern Powerhouse Export Champion by the UK Department for International Trade (DIT).

The Export Champion initiative aims to encourage and inspire businesses across the Northern Powerhouse to realise their exporting ambitions. The scheme was introduced in response to a desire from businesses to receive peer-to peer exporting support. In her role as Export Champion, Dr Huther will help the scheme in its aim to increase prosperity and grow GDP by seizing the opportunities offered by trading in a global market. She will contribute to the development of DIT strategies, providing advice and encouragement to companies that are new to exporting.

Dr Huther has been recognised for her contribution to Arcinova’s success in exporting pharmaceutical development services overseas. With over 80% of sales outside the UK, Arcinova now actively exports to 20 countries, with Australia, Israel and South Korea amongst the most recent additions.

The Export Champion nomination is also an acknowledgement of Arcinova’s contribution to Northern Powerhouse economic growth, and most specifically the North East region of England. The announcement follows other recent commendations, including the inclusion of Arcinova in the Ward Hadaway list of 50 fastest growing companies in the North East and as the highest-placed CDMO in Alantra’s Pharma Fast 50 list.

Nathalie Huther commented, “It is a privilege to have been invited by the DIT to represent Arcinova as an Export Champion. I am proud that my passion for promoting Arcinova and the North East’s life science community has been recognised, and I look forward to sharing my experience to support other businesses in the Northern Powerhouse.”

Roger Kilburn, CEO of Arcinova, said, “This is a fantastic acknowledgement of our contribution to the growing North East economy. I am delighted that Nathalie has been acknowledged as an outstanding ambassador for overseas trade, and I know that she will provide invaluable knowledge and experience to her role as Export Champion.”
