Starting her research in the area of continuous flow synthesis in 2000, Charlotte obtained her PhD in 2003 ‘Microreactors in Organic Synthesis’.  This was followed by 5 years of postdoctoral research in continuous flow synthesis, specifically in the area of heterogeneous catalysis for small molecule synthesis, before joining Chemtrix BV in 2008.  In 2010 she was promoted to CTO & in 2013 to CEO of Chemtrix.

She continues to research & develop continuous flow solutions for industrial partners in the fine, specialty & pharmaceutical sectors, with efforts focussing on the flexible execution of processes at the multi tonne-scale.  Training & education remains central to her activities via practical training in the use of flow reactors, the development of teaching methods for undergraduates to experience flow reactors, along with in company training sessions & workshops.  Over the course of her research career, Charlotte has published more than 65 peer-reviewed articles, several book chapters & a book ‘Micro reaction technology in organic synthesis’.
