Derek was appointed as VP Global External Sourcing at AstraZeneca in January 2021. He is responsible for all external API, Formulation and Packing activities.

Derek joined from Sweden where he led AstraZeneca’s largest supply location supporting global new product launches, multiple technologies, commercial supply, and the company’s Redwood City site in California. Previously Derek lived in China, leading the Wuxi site, and was Interim Regional Vice President Asia Pacific & Japan Supply.

Starting his career in France and as a chartered chemical engineer, Derek has over 25 years of manufacturing, strategy and value chain leadership experience across the end-to-end supply chain in Specialty Chemicals, Agrochemicals and Pharmaceuticals – working at site, marketing company, global brand and global functional level, and externally facing with Suppliers, Partners and Government.
