Mel Walker is passionate about ensuring that patients are able to access innovative therapies while creating value and growth for companies he works with. He has held leadership roles in two of the top ten global pharmaceutical companies, with ten years as a senior executive leading Market Access, Business Development, Pipeline Strategy, Digital Health and Commercial Launch teams, and representing the European region on Global R&D, Digital Health, and Corporate Strategy Boards. Mel has a track record for strategies that enhance price and payer positioning, and for shaping clinical programs to optimise patient outcomes and increase overall return on R&D investments.

Mel established BioPharma Futures because companies were missing out on opportunities to significantly enhance the value of their assets by addressing HTA and payer requirements earlier in clinical development. His mission is to assist these companies and their investors in developing robust and implementable strategies that enhance the potential for patient access while supporting price and revenue projections. Mel’s vision for healthcare enables companies to navigate emerging trends and optimise asset valuations and future exit values.

Mel has co-authored over 30 research papers and abstracts, 2 book chapters, and has worked in a wide range of therapeutic areas. He regularly chairs international conferences on Pricing, Reimbursement, Innovative Payment Mechanisms, HTA Regulatory Interactions, Evidence Generation, and Digital Health. He has a degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Health Outcomes.
