RORY MAW

Director, The Oxford Science Park

Rory Maw joined Magdalen College as a Fellow and Bursar in March 2014, and has responsibility for the College’s overall finances with a particular focus on the management of its £350m endowment. He is a Director of The Oxford Science Park, which is owned by the College.

Prior to moving to Magdalen, he was a Partner and CFO of Bridges Ventures, a private equity firm focused on social impact investment in high growth SME’s and real estate. Previously, he was an investment banker at Schroders and then Morgan Stanley, specialising in mergers and acquisitions for a range of international clients.

Rory graduated in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. For eight years to 2013, he was a non-executive director and then Vice-Chairman of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, chairing the hospital’s Finance and Investment Committee. He also served for eight years as a Trustee, a member of the Investment Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, which manages an endowment of over £750m and supports innovative healthcare in South East London. Rory was also Chairman of Activate Enterprise, an Oxford-based apprenticeship training provider, for four years.
