Head of Drug Product Manufacturing, Pfizer

Ross MacRae is a registered pharmacist with a PhD in Pharmaceutics from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Ross began his career at Pfizer, Sandwich in 1992 and over 13 years held roles of increasing responsibility in formulation development. His experience covers a wide range of formulation types, with particular expertise in drug delivery technology development. He has also held matrix positions leading multi-functional CMC teams across geographical boundaries. In 1999 his formulation group expanded and moved from Sandwich to Sittingbourne Research Centre (SRC) and during this 5-year tenure, he was a member of the SRC Pharmaceutical Sciences leadership team. Ross was appointed head of Sandwich Clinical Supply Manufacturing in 2005, the group grew significantly in capability and size to encompass solids, liquids and inhalation product manufacturing. In 2012 he became Head of the Clinical Supply Manufacturing group responsible for small molecule R&D manufacturing facilities in the US and UK. He was the named Head of Production on the Sandwich Investigational Medicinal Products license from 2007-2018. Currently, he is head of Drug Product Manufacturing, UK and a member of the Drug Product Supply leadership team within Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule. He has been a member of the Sandwich Site Leadership team since 2018.
