Jorge Bartolome

Chief Executive Officer, Areteia Therapeutics, Inc

Jorge Bartolome is Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Areteia Therapeutics, Inc. Most recently Jorge was President of Janssen Canada, the Pharmaceutical Company of Johnson & Johnson, where he led the Canadian business for Janssen and concurrently held a seat on the Janssen Americas Leadership Team. Under his leadership, Janssen was the largest pharmaceutical company in Canada with market leadership positions in Immunology, Oncology and Neurosciences. Jorge also represented the industry as a member of the Board of Directors of Innovative Medicines Canada (the pharmaceutical trade association in Canada). Prior to this, Jorge led the Janssen Cardiovascular business in the US.

Before joining Janssen, Jorge was Senior Vice President and US Business Unit Head of the Respiratory and Neuroscience business at GlaxoSmithKline. At GlaxoSmithKline, he led significant transformation and growth, including the development of GSKs largest franchises in asthma and COPD-Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Under Jorge’s guidance, GSK expanded its market leading respiratory position through the development and commercialization of a broad portfolio of respiratory products and launch of an industry leading respiratory pipeline. Jorge was also responsible for the GSK Medical Centre Business in the US, where he led the Critical Care, Institutional, Hospital and Long-Term Care businesses.

Jorge has over 25 years of international business management experience, including international executive leadership roles for GSK across the US, Latin America, and Asia, where he served as Managing Director for GSK in Singapore.

Throughout his career, Jorge has been successful in building and leading teams across multiple therapeutic areas, geographies, and healthcare systems. His work with healthcare providers and governments has delivered expanded patient access to innovative medicines around the world.
Born in Chile, Jorge was raised in the US and is a graduate of Duke University.
