Paul Branthwaite

Senior Partner & Client Liaison, tranScrip

Paul Branthwaite BSc, MIoD, is responsible for Business Development as well as recruitment in tranScrip. He has over 40 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in clinical R&D, business development, headhunting and marketing.

Paul spent many years assessing and consulting on client needs and resourcing and has lectured on this internationally. His perspective on how to accurately break down projects into their various component parts and providing team-based resolution of often complex issues, is based on ‘hands-on’ experience within three mainstream pharma groups, two CROs, three consultancies and a biotech. He now leads the tranScrip business development and client interface programmes.

Since graduating in Pharmacology in 1979 and entering pharma, Paul worked in marketing, clinical R&D, business development and headhunting before joining tranScrip. His therapeutic knowledge spans cardiovascular, dermatology, immunology, neuro-endocrine, anti-infectives, CNS, pain, wound-healing and oncology disease areas. Notably, Paul was part of the launch team for cyclosporin A in transplantation (with Sandoz), where he made the unusual transition to clinical research from a marketing role. He subsequently spent many years in operational and managerial roles within clinical development and medical affairs, service sectors and headhunting, where he led business development efforts and global clinical programmes for two CROs, as well as running UK clinical operations for a Swedish biotech. He left ‘employment’ as VP & MD Europe for Bench International to help the start-up of tranScrip.
