Scott O'Brien

Scott joined Innovate UK in 2017, initially on secondment from British Business Bank, to lead the development of credit and lending operations for the Innovation Loans pilot before that programme became business as usual in the spending review 2021. Scott also has responsibility for Innovate UK’s investor partnerships programme.
At BBB, Scott was part of the team that delivered guarantee solutions, including Enterprise Finance Guarantee, and Help to Grow, alongside the European Investment Fund. Before that, he established the Start-Up Loans Company on behalf of Lord Young.
Scott has held a number of other policy and delivery roles across Government and prior to joining the public sector work in corporate and commercial banking at NatWest/RBS.
