Dr de Sousa has an extensive track record of delivering in Scientific, Line & Project Leadership roles across Pharmaceutical R&D and at the Interface of Industry, Academia & the Public Sector. He has delivered across all stages of R&D including pre-clinical research, clinical development and regulatory approval and has had leading roles in the development of many new medicines across a wide range of disease areas.
Joe is now an independent consultant across a wide range of organisations in the Private, Public and 3rd Sector. These include: Council Member at that UK Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council; Strategic Advisor at Bionow; member of the BioCity Expert Network and Innovate UK Assessor. He has previously been a member of the EPSRC Strategic Advisory Network and prior to that was a member of the Healthcare Technologies Strategy Team. Joe has provided strategic leadership to numerous multimillion-dollar strategic collaborations across the pharma/healthcare sector and world-leading universities.
Joe completed a DPhil at University of Oxford and is a Chartered Chemist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Visiting Senior Research Fellow at University of Manchester.
