Senior Clinical Test Evaluation Methodologist, NIHR Newcastle In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (NIHR MIC)

Joy is a Senior Clinical Test Evaluation Methodologist at the NIHR Newcastle In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (NIHR MIC).  Joy leads the MIC team of interdisciplinary methodologists and PhD students and has a key role in securing further funding and new collaborations. She has worked on the design and analysis of many of the MIC’s projects to date including the clinical and economic evaluation of rapid tests for viral infections, infections which confer antibiotic resistance and inherited conditions such as familial hypercholesterolemia. Joy has spearheaded the academic development of the MIC and is currently a Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University.  She is also co-Investigator on the Urgent Public Health COVID-19 National Diagnostic Research and Evaluation (CONDOR) Platform and leads the Care Pathway Analysis Workstream.

Prior to joining the DEC and MIC, Joy gained a PhD in Applied Mathematics at Newcastle University and a further 3 years as a Research Associate with the Joint Quantum Centre between Durham and Newcastle Universities.
