Helen Shaw

I am a co-founder and managing director of the VCTC, which is a UK clinical trial site that specialises in delivering virtual and decentralised clinical trials. My background includes fourteen years of clinical research experience spanning academia, clinical trials site, biotech and CRO, with exposure across study management, medical writing, clinical science, and commercial roles. A PhD thesis focussed on what participants want to know when they take part in research, sparked my career long passion for improving access to clinical research for patients, and improving the experience of clinical research for participants. In 2021 I designed and successfully executed one of the first fully decentralised and site-less commercial clinical trials in Europe, which was the precursor to the VCTC.
