Zahid originally qualified as pharmacist and then went on to hold a number of industrial roles.

He has served as Head of Healthcare at Innovate UK (Technology Strategy Board), a former Board Member of the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult and Director of Population and Early Detection Research at Cancer Research UK.

Currently he is a Sector Specialist for the Department for International Trade and an adviser to an investment group.
